U2

U2 came to town this past weekend. I've been lucky enough to see them about 6 or maybe 7 times in the last 20 years. The first being on their Unforgettable Fire Tour of 1984. Another highlight was at Wembley in 1993 on the Zoo TV Tour, this one was right up with the best. From old tunes (Party Girl) to their latest (The Saints Are Coming), they sure do rock hard. Highlights for moi were One, Where The Streets Have No Name (surely, there isn't a greater live song than this), With or Without You, and rare appearance of The First Time (in total accoustic mode...see video) and the amazing Bad/40 at the end of the show. Memories of Live Aid came flooding back on that one. A stunning show, a legacy of 25+ years! For all of Bono's ego and his message pushing (which is a noble cause, i might add)...when the four men, Larry, Adam, Edge and of course, Bono hit the stage....they are magic. You must see this band live.......Sensational

Make Poverty History

The Australian version of the Make Poverty History concerts were held last Friday in Melbourne. The highlight being a 'UJam' with U2 and Pearl Jam joining forces on stage for a rousing rendition of Neil Young's Rocking In The Free World. While the music was sublime, the message is the key. Sign up, write to your local member of parliament, be heard. It's our duty to humanity!!! More information can be gained from visiting the website at Make Poverty History.

One Year On - Paris

....just sitting around swillin beer as the Australian Summer encroaches upon us once more. Did you know, dear readers, that it was a year ago this week that we were at the start of our journey around the world. A 67 night, sold out extravaganza in some of the finest places in the world. First stop was Paris, France. Ye of oui's, cheese and some of the finest architecture and art found anywhere in the world. The people are friendly, the food fantastic and the company we kept were amazing. She's a romantic place, young Paris. Merci to N, I, V & V. You can find a few choice shots of the France's captial at my Flickr Page.

Intrepid Fox Tavern

....The gentrification of our beloved cities and great bars/clubs of the world continues with another of my favourite watering holes, The Intrepid Fox Tavern in Central London closing down. Sadly missed it looks as though January (aka - Madam Fox) is attempting to re-open somewhere near Tottenham Court Road Tube Station. Let hope so, or this money hungry society will leave WHAT exactly for our rocker children. Wil itl be Brittany bars full of plastic sushi impersonations. You know what i'm talkin' about.
