....We all know times are tough, but this hasn't stopped New York restaurant Morton's charging for ice cubes. Yep, you heard it....ICE CUBES. In fact 50 cents a cube.
That's almost 70 cents (Australian). Shocking.
Phew, you've have to be on some coin to justify that one.....AND the cube would have to do dishes and supply coffee after the feed.

Venice Beach is more than just homeless and art installations. It's tits, arse and rock n' roll. Throw in a beautiful beach and you have a recipe for relaxtion. Now we know why Jim Morrison loved it so much......
The Coachella Festival was every bit as great as i'd heard about before going. The organisation was superb, the location stunning, the line up of acts eclectic. I would not hesitate to go back some day soon (next year, i hope). If you are thinking about it, don't think twice. Just do it......
Here are a couple of the bands i enjoyed (amongst a shed load more)

it was truly a Friday night to remember. The cynic's said he'd lost it.....but, we are talking about a Beatle. Paul McCartney blew the desert dust from the air and cleared the way to put faith back in SOME THINGS during an economic climate that is unsteady.
He showed that despite the doom and gloom, MUSIC.....FOREVER AND EVER WILL STAND FIRM TO ALL THAT DOUBT IT'S POWER.....
TRULY...A AWE INSPIRING PERFORMANCE.
Probably one of which i've never (and those that i've talked to) have ever seen before......
Santa Monica and Venice is still a wonderful mix of beach, freak, plactic people and great places to hang out.
Heading to Las Vegas and our hire car was upgraded from a 1 door (ha, ha) buzz box to a respectable toyota carolla. It's nice and black and goes fast. We successfully negotiated the LA traffic, although the STEP LADDER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY, doesn't infect us with confidence. Yes, a step ladder in the middle of the road and two Aussies are doing 65 Miles p/hour (110 klms)....dangerous stuff.
Well, we arrive to cacophony of American voice at full volume.....not to be unexpected. My travellin partner, The Big Man...was....DETAINED for questioning. Later to be release for a passport mix up. Got to love authority!!!

In the true spirit of of Venice beach, we stumbled upon a doors cover band, Peace Frog at the Venice Bistro. To say they were amazing is an understatement. Every freak who'd seen Jim was their...from 70 year old grannies to 50 year old pot smokers. Not to mention the young and very well lubricated (thanks Mr. Arthur Guinness) crowd.
The spirit of Jim is alive and well in Venice beach, we could hear him....we could smell his legacy in the air. This was how the Doors would've been if we'd seen them years ago.
